In the midst of every difficulty lies an amazing opportunity. Poverty stricken countries and communities are no exception. Hidden behind government corruption, natural disasters, poverty and violence one will often discover an abundance of hidden resources. For some people, these resources represent their only hope of escaping the unrelenting cycle of poverty.
But, first they must be able to see the opportunity. That’s difficult for people who have experienced so much poverty, despondency, and desperation. They need encouragement. Most of all they need to embrace a vision they believe in. They need the vision of a better future.
Without vision for a better future, some souls turn to crime, violence, and drugs. The vicious cycle of poverty grabs generation after generation. The people despair.
In many countries this is reality. Even though their lands are rich in natural resources and unfinished opportunities, the people languish. They need the hope of a better future!
In these lands of opportunity the difference between a productive life and one of despair is captured in one word ‘empowerment’. Shining guidance, leadership, and inspiration into the lives of individuals gives them the energy to break through the bars of poverty.
At Empowering Generations our goal is to inspire people and empower them to maximize the resources they have.
In 2018, a group of local Anabaptist leaders and businessmen heard the Liberian call. In their first assessment trip they made connections with a number of Christian nationals. They came home with a burden on their hearts, especially for the many youth and children in the country. The combination of opportunity and abject poverty stunned them and they agreed that the missing ingredient was education and individual empowerment.
Empowering Generations was born.
Nourishing young bodies and educating young minds for a brighter future!
Empowering generations for the health of the nations and for the Glory of God.
Empower and equip a generation of kingdom leaders with integrity that will eradicate poverty through the advancement of affordable education, establishing profitable businesses, restoration of family life, and the development of disciples of Christ.
Empower and equip people of character that influence generations of others through service. (Luke 22:26)
Build a culture of honor and honesty by exhibiting kindness and trustworthiness in accountable relationships. (Proverbs 20:7)
Partnering and collaborating with other organizations to maximize stewardship in a spirit of unity. (Psalms 133)
Promoting a biblical faith that enriches family and friendships with generosity and compassion through the power of the Holy Spirit. (Romans 14:17)
We partner with local churches to enable them to empower generations in their communities to flourish by helping individuals develop. We believe that each individual is at a different stage of development. Click here to see a chart of each of these stages.
Located on the western ‘bulge’ of Africa, is a country called Liberia. Slightly smaller than the state of Pennsylvania, the country contains a wealth of natural resources including gold, iron ore, and petroleum deposits as well as a climate that is perfect for growing natural rubber, rice, bananas, and palm oil.
From 1989 to 1996 and from 1999 to 2003 the people of Liberia endured the unspeakable horrors of civil war. The wars left the country’s economy in shambles and more than 80,000 Liberians died and another 700,000 where forced to flee their homes.
When we think about war we think bombs, broken bodies, and grieving widows and orphans. That is the immediate results of war. But to capture the entire scope of damage one must look years and sometimes decades into the future.
Even though the explosion of bombs, the roar of jets, and the whine of bullets is no longer audible, the damage is. Anger and hatred still simmer, fear and distrust abounds. Like forgotten mourning drapes, despair hangs over the land.
Now, twenty years later the country is home to a generation of war orphans and single parents. Leaders have been killed and communities suffer. Projects remain unfinished, and resources untapped but worst of all; discouragement and despair is written on many faces.
We’ve partnered with Victorious Faith Academy in Monrovia, Liberia to deliver education and Christian leadership to the Liberian people. Our vision is to continue these partnerships with other Christian communities around the world.
